It has long concerned us that we had no suitable way of recycling the computer components that are not working or not financially viable to repair.

There are a couple of options provided by the local councils:

Council arranged collection days about four times per year

Residents of Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Cessnock, Port Stephens, Newcastle, Singleton and Muswellbrook can access free e-cycling services in by taking their material to a free drop off day, dates and locations here http://www.hrr.com.au/e-waste-collections.php

Drop of your old computers at the local tip / recycling centre

Also Residents of Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Cessnock, Newcastle and Muswellbrook can go to their local tip and with the exception of Newcastle can drop their e-waste at no charge. The Newcastle council charge about half the usual tip fees for dropping off e-waste

Plus we are now offering a recycling service for our clients and local residents

If you have bought a new computer from us or a computer service or in some way spent a bit of money with us then we will pay to have a few of your items collected by the recycling centre in East Maitland.

Otherwise if you would like to drop off computers and similar electronic goods to be recycled we are happy to accept them, the following charges will be payable:

• Other small white goods like microwaves, slow cookers etc (not fridges)

When and where can items be delivered for recycling

If you would like to drop in any of these items for recycling we are at 5 Cowper St, Wallsend. Drop offs of computers and other items MUST be within office hours and we will need to charge for each item to be recycled. Payment can be cash or EFTPOS.

This site is quite well matured, we’ve had it online for years and it has picked up the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th spots on the search results for this topic.

So you can see there is a lot still to do but we are working on it, this is not a short term project and we intend on creating excellent websites that have useful content and are persistent in their search engine rankings.
